I trained at Cornwall Yoga Centre with Aimee last year.
The first time I did a yoga class, age 30, I felt like I could finally breathe. The decision to train last year was one of the best decisions of my life. In my mid forties I sometimes wonder if I have left it ‘too late’ but I am a firm believer in starting your Yoga practice where you are at.
“Every one can begin, and the point at which we start is very personal and individual, depending on where we are at the time.” T.K.V Desikachar
I’ve never been into competitive sport but when I told people I was training as a yoga teacher they said, ‘oh wow you must be really flexible!’ I think they expected me to suddenly stand on my head or do the splits or something!
Of course the postures help the body and improve strength and flexibility over time but for me the greatest flexibility is freeing your thought processes and accepting your own limitations. Yoga practice can help us in so many ways and the ability to return to the breath is a gift that will help you through every day strains and struggles of life.
This six week class is aimed at total beginners and anyone who wants a relaxing hatha (breathing) based practice. The class offers a chance to forget about comparisons and take some time just for you after all Yoga is a work in not a work out!
